Who We Are.
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at nearly 2 million in more than 13,000 posts worldwide.
In 1926, Post 5 was established in the Nashville area to serve our veterans and community. Since that time we have served thousands of members and community organizations as we strive to uphold our four core values: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth.
If you are interested in becoming part of our post, we would gladly welcome you! Please join us at any one of our community events, reach out to us any time at (615) 254-0644, or write us at NashvillePost5@comcast.net. The process of joining is easy and you’ll become a part of one of the greatest community organizations in Nashville
